SkyFire 0.9 Launched

SkyFire 0.9Llaunched

The new version of SkyFire, the fast mobile browser that provides a desktop-like browsing experience, is out today.

What's new:

  • A revamped starting page, it includes feeds, Facebook and Twitter integration.

  • The readability on large text area has been improved, now the font size automatically adapts so the user can zoom and rad without the need for horizontal scroll.

  • Skyfire supports the widescreen formats that are used by Windows Mobile devices such as the Samsung i900 and the Sony Ericsson Experia X1 and, on Symbian, the 352x416 is now supported (used by the N80 for example).

  • Search has been improved by the addition of refined suggestions on the auto-suggest entries, instead of launching the search right away. We all know that anything that prevents the user to type on the keyboard on a mobile phone is great.

  • Download media: now it is possible to download the media that is accessible in Skyfire, and for Windows Mobile it is possible to launch the Windows Media Player for Streaming audio, making possible to listen to radio while browsing.

  • Page rendering improved: the algorithm had been updated so now it prevents part of the content to be cut off when the user is zooming, and the zoom action has a quicker feedback.

  • Updated plug ins: Flash 10, Silverlight 2.0 final and newest Quicktime version

  • Login, bookmarks, history: fixed reliability issues, where either of them were inaccessible
