Windows 7 OS Works On Unidentified Netbook

Windows 7 OS Works On Unidentified Netbook

The current Microsoft Developers Conference saw the upcoming Windows 7 OS demonstrated on a netbook, of all devices, making people excited all over again about a new operating system release. With netbooks clearly finding it a challenge to run Vista, the sight of next-generation Windows 7 doing so without much hiccups certainly brings a warmth to the heart. The manufacturer of the netbook was not revealed, although it is speculated that the device is as usual, Atom powered with 1GB of RAM. I wonder just how many Eee PC variants will Asus come up with when Windows 7 is released next year.

Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Pre-beta

Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Pre-beta

Microsoft took advantage of the Professional Developers Conference by dropping its pre-beta release of Windows 7, and some of its spanking new Web applications for Office were paraded as well. It seems as though the crowd was not disappointed as they had a peek at lightweight versions of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote which could be accessed via a standard web browser. Guess Microsoft is going on a warpath against Google, here's hoping they pose a decent challenge to that us consumers win out with the best products on offer available.

Exclusive Xbox 360 Controller From Wal-Mart

If you are in need for another Xbox 360 controller, then look no further than this dragon-covered design that is available exclusively from Wal-Mart. It will retail for $49.74, and would make for a great early Christmas present if you know anyone in dire need of an additional controller. How do you like your game controller designs? Do you prefer them to come in all sorts of patterns, or are you the type who is happy with a single shade of color?

Akashi Mashes Up Mickey and Mario

Akashi Mashes Up Mickey and Mario

Dave Bondi is the brainchild behind the Akashi, a mixture of Mickey Mouse and Super Mario. Somehow or rather, this look totally wrong, but presumably there will be people out there who thinks it looks fabulously cool, running out of superlatives to describe it. The Akashi figure is 9" tall and comes with a removable cap (presumably taken off when "it" wants to do the horizontal hokey-pokey with both Princess Peach and Minnie Mouse), poseable head and arms. There will only be 250 of these available worldwide, so expect them to pop up on eBay sooner or later at more than the initial $65 asking price.

Sooloos ControlOne is 17-inch touch screen music server

Sooloos ControlOne is 17-inch touch screen music server

The Sooloos Ensemble System is an all-in-one music server that includes a CD drive to rip soundtracks. Tracks can also be uploaded via USB if you already have digital files. The software can handle playlists and collections via a drag and drop interface on the touch screen. Just like other systems, Sooloos can import metadata like album covers, lyrics or recommendations... that could lead you to discover new music. That is a remotely "social" aspect in my opinion and I'm not sure that I agree with the "socialize your music" statement from Sooloos (it's not like you're sharing stuff with "friends"). The idea of having a touch interface for music is nice, but this one comes at a price of $7900. Drop a comment if you want, but I'm getting a new 62" Plasma TV with that money :)
