Cops On T3 Electric Scooters

Cops On T3 Electric Scooters

Cops in Elvis' hometown are currently patroling the neighborhood on a T3 Series Personal Mobility Vehicle. The T3 is capable of hitting speeds of up to 20mph, while breaking down the barrier between officer and civilian as they are no longer seen to be as threatening as they used to be when cruising in their patrol cars. This is fine and dandy, and 20mph sounds just about right to capture thieves who are trying to make a fast getaway on foot.

CLEF System Concept

CLEF System Concept

Musicians will definitely love the CLEF system concept as it comes with a flexible LCD touch screen display, complete with a built-in stand and a foot pedal that operates wirelessly. All you need to do is step on the pedal or touch the screen in order to turn the digital music sheet. In addition, you will be able to perform on-the-fly scoring, note taking and collaborative writing should the bug strikes. A keyboard is hidden underneath the display should you need to do some typing with it, while the foot pedal also doubles up as a stereo when required. No idea when this concept will be materialized though.

Dell Inspiron 1525 has Blu-ray

Dell Inspiron 1525 has Blu-ray

Just like (nearly) everyone else, Dell takes the plunge into the world of high definition with its Inspiron 1525 notebook, by throwing in a Blu-ray drive. Interestingly enough, the Inspiron 1525 won't exactly break the bank as it retails for $880 upwards, depending on the configuration. Other features include the ability to send videos to HDTVs courtesy of HDMI and a Broadcom Media PC accelerator to help with HD video playback, since the integrated graphics platform doesn't have enough muscle to do the job alone. Will you be picking this up as your primary Blu-ray player?

Apple Looks For Handwriting Recognition Engineer

Apple Looks For Handwriting Recognition Engineer

Apple is currently searching the job market for a Handwriting Recognition Engineer, at least since August 11th, 2005. This position in Apple's Handwriting Recognition team will probably be responsible for Mac OS X's Inkwell technology. For those who are not in the know, Inkwell technology was based on handwriting technology developed in-house by Apple for the Newton handheld computer in the 90s. Since the Newton's fall in the last decade, Inkwell has found very little or no use at all, but this position could bring about the promise of the fabled Apple Tablet.

Snow Used To Cool Down Building

Snow Used To Cool Down Building

Denso Corp. of Japan has developed a new air conditioning system that uses snow held in storage to reduce the building's temperature in an effort to reduce the use of electricity. Sounds like a pretty noble idea, but this will only work in extremely selected parts of the world for obvious reasons. Another thing is, if a place is covered with snow most of the time, shouldn't a heater be higher on the list of priorities compared to air conditioning? Well I suppose Denso knows what they're doing, and any effort that helps keep the earth green scores points in my book.

Fujifilm Tracks Backup Data With GPS

Fujifilm Tracks Backup Data With GPS

Fujifilm is currently offering the option in include a LoJack-designed tracker in its storage devices, allowing you to keep track of your precious backup data wherever you go. This new service will set you back by $150 per device monthly, so make sure you have only mission critical data inside unless you're swimming in a pool of unlimited cash. Corporations will definitely find this offer tempting, since the fallout from a class-action lawsuit due to mass identity theft will probably hurt the company's pockets (and image) more in the long run.

3Rsystem R240 Grace HTPC Case

Having a HTPC system in your home is a delicate affair, as you not only have to think of what components to put inside but the type of casing as well, as there really isn't any point in aggravating the missus by having an awful-looking PC case right smack in the middle of the living room, throwing the rest of the home's decorations out of whack. The R240 Grace HTPC case from 3Rsystem of Korea makes sure this gets the approval of the person wearing the pants in the house, featuring a high glossy bezel with a black-coated half mirror in addition to a wine red-colored LCD display. Thermaltake iXoft Notebook Carrying Bag

Thermaltake iXoft Notebook Carrying Bag

Thermaltake has a brand new notebook carrying bag in the form of the iXoft. This notebook cooling pad is integrated into the notebook carrying bag itself, and because it uses a fan-less solution, there is no worries about running out of batteries or having the incessant whir of the fan interrupt your thinking process. It helps keep your notebook cool by using a special thermal shifting chemical that will be able to spread heat out evenly across the pad, making the iXoft maintenance-free without consuming an iota of energy. Each purchase comes with a high density memory foam that surrounds the carrying bag in order to protect it from shocks and jolts. The only drawback would be the weight - it adds another 1.115kg to your burden if you decide to lug this around. Ah well, isn't it time you got fit anyway?

Asus Eee Desktop Coming

Asus Eee Desktop Coming

The Asus Eee Desktop PCs are on their way sometime this year, but other than these supposed shots that have been floating in cyberspace, very little or nothing else is known about system specifications. Hopefully it will take the same route as the Eee PC's mantra of "Easy to Learn, Easy to Work, Easy to Play". Just don't expect the specifications to be game-ready as they are probably more suited to casual computer use than anything else.

Apple takes Fitness Route

Apple takes Fitness Route

Apple is one of the few companies that want to see its users get fit, and not fat. According to recent patent filings, people have managed to uncover a full-featured program that includes OS X and an iPhone-like device which aims to keep your fitness program on track with a strict regimen, complemented by advice, illustrations, rep counts and the like. Music and exercise have gone hand in hand for many years now, and one can always trust Apple to come up with something shocking (in a positive way) to get the fat and flabby industrialized world to start working out. $10 on the line that Apple will include an 'i' prefix in the final product name.

Motorola Z9 Launches in April

Motorola Z9 Launches in April

The Motorola Z9 will be launching this April 1st apparently, with AT&T being the carrier. Word has it that TeleNav will be rebadged as AT&T Navigator, so one can reasonably expect the Z9 to feature an A-GPS solution since the handset itself doesn't support GPS in the first place. There is no word on pricing at this point in time, but like the adage goes - good things come to those who wait. No matter what, it doesn't look as though the Motorola Z9 will revive the company's fortunes anytime soon.

Vivitar DVR565HD On A Budget

If you're planning to hop onto the high definition bandwagon without breaking the bank, then the Vivitar DVR565HD makes for a good candidate. Capable of recording video at a native 720p resolution while directly encode it to H.264 does away with the need to do it manually on a computer later on, while allowing you to store more videos on limited storage space. Movies are stored on an SD memory card up to 4GB in capacity, while an HDMI output allows you to view your recorded videos in 1080i resolution on a HDTV directly. There is no word on pricing or a release date at press time, but so far black and silver colors are confirmed.

Ninja Strike from eyeSight

eyeSight has announced Ninja Stroke - touted to be the first cell phone game in the world controlled by actual hand movements right in front of the camera. I suppose talking aloud into your DS' microphone while on your daily commute is already embarassing enough, but to actually perform karate chops with one hand in front of your phone's camera? Most people would die from embarrassment IMHO. Well, hopefully the advanced real-time image processing algorithms will be able to hold up as you go about (virtually) dispatching of kurai ninjas with your mad skillz.

After all, whenever you pick up Mario Kart Wii for $49.99, it will already come with a Wii Wheel inside. $14.99 is a whole lot to pay for just a piece of plastic if you ask me, but that won't stop legions of Mario Kart fans from snapping this up when it is available.
