GMail Users Under an IM Phishing Attack

GMail Users Under an IM Phishing Attack

IT security company Sophos has warned GMAIL users that a phishing attack is underway via the Google Chat system. Users have been receiving chat messages with a "check this video" message and a tinyurl link. Once clicked, the link redirects them to ViddyHo, a site where they are asked for their Google credentials. Hackers can then re-use this information to snoop in people's accounts and possibly use the information to steal one's identity.

Be careful in general, and it seems like a good idea not to use one site's credential (Google's) on another site, that just sounds like "give me your login and password". More stories about this on the web.

Mio Maamin GPS For Jews

Mio Maamin GPS For Jews

Jews are often on the receiving end of tyranny, rockets and ridicule over the course of history, but at least they have something good going on here today, thanks to the Mio Ma'amin (Believer) GPS navigation system. Specially designed for Orthodox Jews, it will retail for approximately $240 in Israel sometime later this month, and will feature Jew-centric specifications such as :-

  • Special POI for holy sites, synagogues, cemeteries and ritual baths

  • Man’s voice for directions

  • Book of Psalms

  • Three daily prayer services

  • Traveler’s Prayer

  • Hebrew calendar

  • Two versions of Grace After Meals

We would like to reiterate that this is no early April Fool's joke, and can't help but wonder whether the Israelites would have taken a week to enter the promised land if Moses had the Mio Ma'amin instead of wandering around for forty years.

Tokyoflash Sensai Watch

Tokyoflash Sensai Watch

Tokyoflash has yet another mind-boggling watch for the masses - the Sensai. You will be able to choose from case and strap color combinations, where each purchase will come with multi-colored LEDs located under sleek black acrylic lenses. As for the wrist band design, it will look like a one-piece bracelet but can be adjusted in a snap to cater for various wrist sizes. The Sensai has an animation mode that kicks in each minute for every dozen minutes after the time is displayed, where the LEDs will rotate on and off in a circular fashion to bring the watch to life. Of course, you have total control and can turn this function off if you find it to be too distracting. The dozen red LEDs are the hours, while eleven green LEDs represent groups of five minutes with yellow LEDs being the ambassador for single minutes. Nothing beats a classic analog/digital watch when it comes to telling the time at a glance though.

Teclast M50HD Portable Media Player

Teclast M50HD Portable Media Player

There is something hardy about the new Teclast M50HD portable media player (PMP) - after all, how else are you going to explain its extraordinary toughness compared to its relatively sissy-like brethren like the Zen, Zune and iPod? The Teclast M50HD relies on military grade zinc-magnesium alloy as its chassis, enabling it to pooh-pooh at higher-than-normal temperatures and pressure. The display itself uses a form of "super tempered" polysilicon glass panel for added toughness. Built like a tank, that doesn't mean it is a slouch in performance as it features support for popular formats of today, 720p high definition video playback and a 4.3" display at 800 x 480 resolution.

Piaggio MP3 Hybrid Scooter

Piaggio MP3 Hybrid Scooter

Piaggio's MP3 is not a portable audio player, but is actually a three-wheeled hybrid scooter that will appear in Italy and Spain later this summer. The Piaggio MP3 is able to travel for approximately 12 miles on a single full charge, but should you need to go further, you can always rely on the MP3's single cylinder, 250cc gas-powered engine. Piaggio has also included regenerative braking in the package. As for its electric motor being used in tandem with the gas-powered engine, you ought to be able to touch 140 miles per gallon at low speeds. The built-in lithium ion battery pack will take around 4 hours to recharge, and we are looking at an expected price range of €8,000 to €10,000 when it arrives on Europe's doorsteps later this year.
