Hitachi has just introduced its newest CinemaStar 3.5" hard drives that come in varying capacities, maxing out at 500GB to offer the perfect balance between power utilization and performance. Not only that, 2.5" variants are also available, making them suitable for use in sleek set-top boxes and portable digital video devices. The CinemaStar C5K250 and P7K500 have been specially optimized for use in home entertainment applications. The 2.5" CinemaStar C5K250 boasts a reduced size, low power and quiet acoustics, making it suitable for use in portable media players. Is that a sign of a 250GB iPod in the near future? As for the 3.5" CinemaStar P7K500, it will target full-featured set-top boxes or DVRs with multi-streaming functionality, with a maximum capacity of 500GB.
