Windows Vista SP1 beta released

Windows Vista SP1 beta released

Microsoft has just released the Windows Vista SP1 beta to a private group of testers, and this only means that the official launch is not too far away - perhaps even in the first quarter of next year. This beta will be available to between 10,000 and 15,000 users, featuring a couple of minor user interface changes as well as overall responsiveness. One beta tester noted that resuming activity after hibernation as well as file copying from one directory to another was faster in addition to improved battery life on a laptop. Microsoft has also promised that SP1 will come with improved performance of Internet Explorer 7, especially for Web sites that run AJAX. The final SP1 will be distributed via Windows Update, and corporate administrator will be able to use a standalone version of SP1.
