5G iPod Video Gets Bluetooth Hack

5G iPod Video Gets Bluetooth Hack

Ed Hernndez has just unveiled to the world his latest project - a 5G 30GB iPod video that comes with a Bluetooth module, enabling audio out. Unfortunately, the 30GB model is too thin for comfort, and hence Ed had to make some modifications in order to make Apple's famous PMP accommodate the Bluetooth module. The hard drive was replaced with a Compact Flash memory card, while the front white plastic has been removed, with an iVue clear panel replacing it so that the Bluetooth LED is able to shine through. Reminds me of those transparent Gameboys that Nintendo used to sell...

Samsung Holographic 3D Projection Display Phone

Samsung Holographic 3D Projection Display Phone

Samsung has just filed yet another patent application for a holographic 3D projection display cell phone, and while this idea is cool, I'm not sure whether I buy it since there are way too many technical issues involved and to consider.

Although it has been assumed in the above description that the panel-type waveguide according to the present invention is used as a screen, on which source images emitted by the optical unit are two-dimensionally displayed, the panel-type waveguide may be replaced with a three-dimensional hologram screen so that source images emitted by the optical unit are three-dimensionally displayed on a plane spaced from the hologram screen by a predetermined distance.

Will you pick up a handset that features holographic 3D optical displays? I bet they'd cost a bomb and drain a battery faster than a Hummer drinks fuel.

FPS Gaming Vest Now Available

FPS Gaming Vest Now Available

The 3rd Space Vest, also known by the moniker FPS Gaming Vest enables one to feel punches and knocks in the video game as they are translated to eight force-feedback units located in strategic areas of the vest. I wonder which would hurt more - taking a few bullets or walking right smack into an explosion. It is finally available, retailing for $169 a pop after making a cameo at this year's CES in Vegas. Which game do you think would this work best? I would like to see the famous "chaingun dance" that demons and imps perform in the early Doom franchises being ported over to the FPS Gaming Vest.

Palm TX Purchase Gets Z22 Free

Palm TX Purchase Gets Z22 Free

I actually thought that Palm would die off first before HD DVD folded, but apparently the former is still floating about in existence while the latter has suffered a mortal defeat at the hands of Blu-ray. Palm is now offering a free Palm Z22 handheld, valued at $99, to whoever picks up the Palm TX. This offer expires at the end of this month, so if you're one of those five people interested in picking up the Palm TX while giving the free Palm Z22 to your other half as a present, there is no better time than now. The Palm TX isn't new though, as it was released way back in October 2005, featuring a 320 x 480 resolution, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
