The Swift40e claims to be the fastest single-stream wide area network (WAN) interface card that reaches speeds of 40Gbps; which is four times faster than today's fastest WAN networks. The Swift40e can be specially configured with up to two PCI Express x16 interface cards, supporting full duplex 40Gbps optical streaming transmission along with a whopping 16GB of onboard memory. Remember that 40Gbps is a theoretical speed and that real-world measurements would probably be much slower . Additionally, no one knows when or if this will become a commercial product.
