Those who live in earthquake-prone areas would definitely have learned about the Triangle of Life in the event disaster strikes, and this is the inspiration behind the Life Desk. The Life Desk itself is open for learning during regular times, and can be closed to offer protection during an emergency. The main structure itself is made from high strength steel and nylon board, while the side structure is composed of molten steel that has been molded round in order to disperse stress evenly. The creator, Deng, has already held talks with the Bureau of Education in China and they will be rolling out a limited number of such desks for trials in schools. These desks won't come cheap though at 80 Euros a pop, but at what cost are you willing to peg human life to?
