We've all seen lie detector tests being carried out on the TV before, and some of us who have stepped onto the wrong side of the law might have had to deal with this at the local precinct one time or another. Here's a new kind of lie detector test that overlooks the psychophysiological gauges, instead zooming in on the brain in its search for truth in your answers. The Fib Headgear aims to detect lies by using near-infrared spectroscopy, shining a near-infrared light through the scalp and skull into certain parts of the brain. The amount of light that reflects back indicate oxygenation levels - and these change according to how active the brain is at that point in time, helping scientists and detectives find out whether one is lying or not. It looks set to take a fair bit of time before it is realized though.
