TDK has introduced its HS1 series, a nenw line of 1.8" solid state disks that feature the Micro SATA interface, hoping to woo notebook manufacturers as well as companies who churn out industrial devices. The HS1 range will feature 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities, relying on SLC (single-level cell) NAND flash memory for all its data storage needs. The price ain't cheap though, as your pockets are bound to get burnt. Get a load of this - the 64GB model will retail for $1,902, while the 32GB model goes for $1,450 and the 16GB model is at a relatively affordable $875 price point. Of course, you get your money's worth when it comes to performance as burst performance is rated at 100MB/s for reading and 50MB/s for writing. Each of these disks features 128-bit AES encryption for greater security.
