Hynix has introduced an upgrade to its flash memory that relies on three-bits-per-cell technology, allowing data to be stacked up to 32GB within tight confines. The capacity jump isn't proportionate to the physical size increase, as it occupies 30% less area compared to a standard two-bits-per-cell flash chip. Guess this development would mean we will be able to check out more portable devices that feature an ever growing amount of memory, which is always good for the consumer. Now, if only something can be done to bring the pricing down. Mass production will only occur from this October onwards.
