Hitachi has a brand new Blu-ray burner known as the DZ-WR90, and this one does away with the need for a computer as it is able to create instant Blu-ray home movies simply by plugging a camcorder into it. Just make sure you're using it with a high definition camcorder as it would be a waste cramming in standard definition video on such an expensive media. Thankfully, the DZ-WR90 also thinks of those who have yet to purchase a high definition camcorder, and hence the ability to record video on DVD-R discs as well. This drive ought to hit retail stores in Japan sometime in the middle of July at a yet undisclosed price. I guess it is imperative that you clean up the video first on a computer, unless you love watching raw, unedited scenes.
