AU Optronics has unveiled its new curved LCD display at SID 2008. This display is believed to be the first of its kind in the world, where a new thinning technique from the company enabled it to manufacture a display that has a radius of 100mm which arcs and has backlight across the entire display for easy viewing even in the dark. Guess we not only have odd-shaped LCD displays, they also come in curved form factors these days. What are some of the uses of a curved LCD display that you would like to see? I think pillars in buildings will soon sport more interactive ads than mere posters with the proliferation of such a display.
