The Wiimote is not only good for gaming, but with a stroke of genius and time, engineers at the US Department of Energy's Idaho National Lab in Idaho Falls have manage to cobble a Wiimote hack that allows it to control a bomb-disposing, landmine-detecting, machine gun-carrying robot known as the Packbot. All you need to do is wave the Wiimote around and the Packbot will move in the corresponding direction. Should a potentially explosive object be discovered, the Wiimote will start vibrating to alert you before you start pissing in your pants and quaking in your boots. Now is this one of the neater hacks you've ever heard off or what? Apparently the same brains behind this hacked Wiimote are going to see what they can do with the iPhone next...
