Scientists in Hungary have been cracking their heads to analyze dogs' barks so that their software will be able to figure out just exactly how Lassie and friends are trying to say. To date, software has been tested which distinguishes the emotional reaction of 14 pooches to half a dozen situations including being alone, seeing a ball, fighting, playing, encountering a stranger and going for a walk. While a perfectly accurate translation is pretty far off in the future, I would prefer to see a software that translates cat speak as I need to find out if our feline friends are really that arrogant. In the meantime, I can try Meowlingual, a cat-translator gadget, for dogs, there’s Bowlingual.
