CMU Water Strider robot

CMU Water Strider robot

The CMU Water Strider robot (video here) is very capable of moving across liquids just like its biological counterpart - and this development is a first and important step towards creating a robot which will be able to access a vast array of areas which are currently out of bounds. Imagine using such robots to remotely monitor water quality or even work in a sewer system - at least that will strike off one job from the Dirty Jobs documentary hosted by Mike Rowe on Discovery Channel.
