Scientists have developed a super X-ray that could come in handy as a cheaper, faster and painless method to discover whether certain folk with signs of heart disease might actually have it and require treatment. It could potentially do away with the need for some of the 1.3 million cardiac catheterizations done each year in the US to check for clogged arteries, but one major drawback would be the large dose of radiation that could raise the risk of cancer by giving the disease a kickstart.
