Axiom Audio releases Audiobyte

Axiom Audio releases Audiobyte The Audiobyte from Axiom Audio prides itself in being the first luxuxry hi-fi computer speaker system in the world, comprising of a couple of high end, ultra-compact speakers in addition to a dedicated stereo amplifier and an optional subwoofer. There are seven speaker finishes to choose from (silver, charcoal, black or white matte-finish synthetic; high-gloss synthetic Cherry or Burled Walnut, or real-wood Burled Walnut) and packs quite a punch in terms of performance. Its standalone amp throws out 55 watts per speaker, while in-room Sound Pressure Level is 87dB - more than adequate for most dynamic audio or movie tracks. Each speaker unit measures just 6.5" x 5.5" x 4", and is compatible with Apple's iPod thanks to the Audiobyte's USB plug. The Axiom Audiobyte retails for $349 for a couple of bookshelf speakers in standard synthetic finish, $399 in high-gloss synthetic, and $559 for the real-wood Burled Walnut model. The optional subwoofer will set you back by another $179. Strangely enough, the product cannot be found on the official site as stated in the press release at time of publishing.
