Walgreen is planning to include movie-burning DVD kiosks in their drugstore photo departments from next year onwards in an effort to increase selection while preventing piracy. This move allows consumers to burn digital copies onto blank discs. Currently, Walgreen and other retailers are working with Sonic Solutions to come up with a workable solution. It has been said that these on-demand DVDs will be able to generate up to $1.3 billion in revenue by the time 2011 rolls around - that's a whole load of money. Will DVD still be around by then considering how movie studios are trying to push HD DVD and Blu-ray formats?
