NEC has been pretty busy lately, and this has resulted in a trio of new LaVie Series laptops - the LaVie C, LaVie L Advanced Type and LaVie L Standard Type. The LaVie C takes the cake when it comes to specifications, so we'll just concentrate on this one instead. It features a face recognition system that is used to log into the laptop, doing away with biometric readers and passwords. That's not too safe as somebody else could just use a photo of your mug over the webcam to access your cache of data. Other features include a Blu-ray disc drive, an HDMI output, a hybrid HDD with 160GB of storage space and 256MB of flash memory. It runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz processor which ought to be speedy enough for most Office applications. No word on pricing details though. | | |
