Vertu Constellation Pure Collection

Vertu Constellation Pure Collection

Vertu is a luxury handset manufacturer and they seem oblivious to the fact that the whole world is plunged into a recession at this point in time, so we wonder whether the ultra rich will continue to spend frivolously despite having most of their fortunes slashed in value no thanks to volatile and bearish stock markets. Vertu has forged ahead with its Constellation Pure Collection that has more than meets the eye - this is the culmination of two years' of research, where the final coloring process is perfected to provide the handset with a perfectly uniform color. This is an all-white handset that boasts polished steel and a white ceramic keypad, lovingly encased in white leather for stain resistance. There will only be 2,500 of these in existence, so expect to fork out a handsome amount for one.

Nano Breathe Checks For Diseases

Nano Breathe Checks For Diseases

Applied Nanodetectors Ltd. (AND) from the UK is currently parading a prototype cell phone at the International Nanotechnology Exhibition & Conference that is able to detect various diseases simply by analyzing the user's breath. The phone itself is made by Nokia, featuring AND's chip inside that features integrated sensors which are able to detect minute traces of different gases including CO2, NOx and ammonia (NH3). Once detected, the chip will get to work by analyzing the composition of the user's breath while tabulating the density of each gas. The results will be compared against characteristics of various diseases in order to detect whether one is possibly suffering from a certain type of disease or not. Sounds cool, but the phone is still a long way off from being commercially available. If only the phone will print out my sick leave as well, saving me a trip to the doctor's while I stay home and away from work.

Philips Net TV

Philips Net TV

Philips has recently introduced its Net TV service that will target its line of high-end TVs (specifically those that fall under the Philips 8000 and 9000 range), letting you surf selected sites from the comfort of your living room (or wherever else you decide to place your TV, of course). Not everything from the Internet can be accessed though, as you will be restricted to a pre-determined band of sites such as YouTube, TomTom, eBay, Funspot and MyAlbum among others. These sites have been specially modified to suit the Philips Net TV service so that your eyes will benefit from large and legible text. While you are able to gain access to other sites, these have yet to be optimized so your eyes might not be so forgiving after a while. Depending on selected Philips TV models used, an Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection is in order in order to take advantage of Philips Net TV.
